		<description>Originally from South Africa but resident for the past 40 yrs in England, I bought my first and only Lesotho blanket from a trading store in the Drakensberg in the early 1980s.

It is a gem. Felted,doublefaced weave;royal blue one side and moss green the other. Two horizontal bands of diamond pattern bands at either end alternate in turquoise,red and yellow. Very robust and warm and ofcourse stiking.

Contemporary versions appears flimsier in the hand.However, the traditional iconography and symbols are compelling and a big part of their appeal and uniqueness. Pity this couldn&#039;t be a catalyst for local design and production rather than imported from South Africa or the UK.
